fresh fire wishes to expand perspectives and strives to introduce a wide audience to alternative forms of literature. In order to experience our exciting hotbed of ideas and stories in a safe(r) manner, fresh fire actively strives to create an environment where mutual respect, diversity and consent is at the forefront. All who participate in our festival help carry our collective story and take his/her/their collective responsibility for social and physical safety at our festival.
fresh fire opposes discriminatory and offensive language or behavior, as well as any form of transgressive behavior. By this we mean, among other things, unwanted sexual behaviour, violence, abuse of power, bullying and discrimination based on diversity characteristics (e.g., ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion or belief, age, health status, etc).
To provide a caring environment during fresh fire we take the following actions:
We invite each person involved to engage in dialogue, to stand up for each other, and to dare to ask for help. This is a promise to ourselves and each other that we are willing to listen and learn from each other; that we have an empathetic and open attitude; that we care for each other.
Let's take care of each other.
We recognize that maintaining a safe(r) and inclusive space is an ongoing learning process. Do you have questions, concerns or feedback for us going forward? If so, please email anke.tilley@vonkenzonen.be
