Op 23 mei brengt Esohe Weyden, Stadsdichter van Antwerpen en co-curator van vers vuur, samen met Myriem El-Kaddouri (stadsdichter van Kortrijk) en Benzokarim (stadsdichter van Rotterdam) een unieke gezamenlijke performance naar De Roma.
Als co-curator van het festival geeft Esohe Weyden dit jaar mee vorm aan vers vuur, en staat ze zelf ook op het podium. Samen met haar collega-stadsdichters creëert ze een vurige ontmoeting waarin woord, stem en energie samenkomen. Verwacht een krachtige uitwisseling tussen steden, perspectieven en poëtische kracht.

Esohe Weyden is a writer, poet, presenter, and legal scholar. she works as a mandate assistant and doctoral researcher in family wealth law at the University of Antwerp, where she was the campus poet from 2021 to 2023. From 2025 to 2027, she will be the city poet of Antwerp. Since 2017, she has become an integral part of the Dutch-language poetry scene. Her poems have brought her to the most diverse stages, from festivals such as Crossing Border, Pukkelpop, and Tomorrowland. to the civil procession of Belgium's National Day. In 2022, she won the public prize of the PrixFintro for Dutch-language literature, and in 2019, he received the cultural award for distinguished residents of Deurne. Her debut on paper was with her poetry collection Tussentaal (2022), which was nominated for the C. Buddingh Prize 2022 for the best Dutch-language poetry debut. This was followed by en morgen nog een keer (2024), a unique children's book about trying new things. Her second poetry collection, Richtingloos Navigeren, will be released in 2025. Since 2022, she has been a member of the core editorial team of the literature-cultural magazine DW B and has published in literary magazines such as Poëziekrant and Het Liegend Konijn.
